Dahlia Heights Elementary
The project focus at a specific building type such as schools, and reimagines it through today’s social, economic, and cultural contexts. Starting with research and analysis of precedents. To the introduction of a site in Los Angeles, the studio embraces and interrogates the constraints of a real world project during a pandemic, and aims to uncover novel ways of embodying learning and playing in a school, through its architecture. The elementary was designed based on the ring plan school by richard J. Neutra. Neutra’s first conceptual school project “Richard J. Neutra School”, the Ring Plan School, was part of the urban scheme, Rush City Reformed. Ring Plan School is intended to serve a widely distributed population.
