Monolithic architecture, in the sense of being “formed from a single block of stone”, is, for all intents and purposes, imaginable as a cultural expression of building. Buildings are assembled from multiple components and systems. poured-in-place concrete buildings have to integrate other components let alone contend with the assembled form-work used in its casting. This means that monolithicity is an architectural effect achieved by the specific configuration of common architectonic elements. Instructor: Ramiro Diaz-Granados
